Trojans Season Ends At State Quarterfinals
Columbus, OH- The Troy Trojans varsity hockey team, proud members of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), saw their 2020-2021 season end on Saturday afternoon inside Nationwide Arena's Dispatch Ice Haus in OHSAA state quarterfinal action against top seeded Dublin Coffman Rocks by a final score of 9-1.
The Trojans made the trip to the state capital to meet the Capital Hockey Conference's Rocks for the first time this season, and despite the ending, was able to keep within a goal differential through nearly the midway point of the game before Coffman's depth mounted too much for the young Trojans squad.
The playoff game marked yet another positive benchmark in the Troy varsity program's continuous progress, and provided many opportunities for the ten first-year varsity skaters on the roster to develop confidence and experience with OHSAA playoff hockey against a state ranked opponent.
As the COVID modified season comes to a close, the Trojans are proud to have completed a full schedule despite the ongoing pandemic, thanks in part to the commitment and dedication of the Troy High School athletic department administration, hockey coaching staff and players.
Head Coach Rick Szabo and his staff have already begun preparations for the upcoming 2021-2022 season, beginning with the Spring Prospects Camp set for March 16 at Hobart Arena in downtown Troy.
