Trojans Play Exhibition Game On NHL Ice

Columbus, OH - The Troy Trojans varsity hockey program, proud member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) were invited to play an exhibition game against the Worthington Kilborne Wolves inside Nationwide Arena, home of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday as part of a full day of "once in a lifetime" experiences for the student athletes.

Prior to puckdrop against the Wolves on the main arena surface, both teams were treated to a tour of the newly renovated Blue Jackets dressing room by CBJ staff.

Both teams then faced off for a midday exhibition game, played with a running clock, with Trojans head coach Rick Szabo ensuring every member of the varsity team had an opportunity to play on the NHL surface many of the players had grown up watching on TV. While the Wolves would win the game, both teams will have a lasting memory to take away from the weekend.

Immediately following the exhibition game, the Trojans got back on the bus and met for a team meal of pizza and wings in suburban Columbus, before retuning to Nationwide Arena, this time as guests to watch the Blue Jackets host the Los Angeles Kings in an evening tilt. Players and family members enjoyed the game together, with the Blue Jackets notching a win in overtime.
